Health Care Career Exploring
Health Care Career Exploring is a hands-on program open to young men and women 14-20 years old with an interest in learning more about careers in the fields of health care.
You get to experience firsthand what it's like to conduct surgery on a dog or cat, take vital signs, evaluate an X-ray for broken bones or other ailments, properly put on surgical masks, gloves, and gowns, practice the latest techniques in physical therapy, build a crown for a tooth and so much more!

The Healthcare Explorers program is for students seeking an in-depth, hands-on experience in the realm of health care. Students will learn about different professions within the hospital through hands-on activities, games, presentations, and close interactions with professionals ranging from hospital administrators to doctors, nurses and dietitians. Explorers who are juniors and seniors are encouraged to shadow at the hospital as an additional way to experience the job fields. In addition, students in this program are among the first to receive information about applicable hospital job openings and similar opportunities, as well as detailed information about the healthcare degrees offered at local colleges and universities.

Indiana University Health Ball Memorial is partnering with Central Indiana Exploring to offer a Medical Explorer Program for youth ages 14-20. The Medical Exploring Program gives youth an in-depth look at different healthcare careers by providing an opportunity to learn and explore in a variety of healthcare settings and job shadowing with medical professionals.

Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health is partnering with the Boy Scouts of America to offer a Medical Explorer Program open to youth ages 14-20. The Medical Exploring Program gives youth an In-depth look at different healthcare careers by providing an opportunity to learn and explore in a variety of healthcare settings and job-shadow with medical professionals in a pediatric setting.

Are you interested in learning more about the medical field? The Riverview Hospital Post engages Explorers through presentations by medical professionals and tours through out the hospital including but not limited to the pharmacy, rehab & fitness, surgery, maternity and hospital laboratory.
