Baden-Powell’s Vision
In 1916, Sir Robert Baden-Powell, founder of the Scouting movement, knew what success looked like for the 10th anniversary of Scouting. It was the sight of thousands of youth gathered together to celebrate. The jamboree was born! In his words, “The secret of its growth lies in that indeterminate force which we only know as the ‘Scout Spirit,’ “ and grow it has!
Since 1937, more than 710,000 Scouts and leaders have shared the jamboree experience and hiked the trails, paths, and roadways at 17 national Scout jamborees. Now, after utilizing seven different sites, the national jamboree has a permanent home – The Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve!
Meet me at the Summit!
National Scout jamborees are rich in tradition and history. The 2013 National Jamboree promises that and more. It will make history by being the first national jamboree at The Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve, or The Summit (for short). And will establish new traditions, while embracing some old ones, as the permanent home for national jamborees.
And when not in use for national jamborees, The Summit will serve as the fourth operating national high adventure camp, a national camp school and training center. It will also host the 2019 World Jamboree.

Ask a buddy or two from your troop to join in on this chance of a lifetime. With a total of 234 participants from Crossroads of America Council, spaces are limited for The Summit.
Here is how it works: Participants form six troops (36 youth per troop) and one Venturing crew (18 youth). Each troop has a Scoutmaster and three Assistant Scoutmasters. Venturong crew will have two Advisors.

Visitor Day Passes Now Available!
Visitor tickets for Jamboree are available for pre-purchase. Visitors will have access to all activities in the Scott Summit Center- including BMX, skating, climbing, zip lines, view all the exhibits and even attend the Saturday night AT&T Stadium Show. Visitor tickets will be available to BSA members exclusively through May 31, 2013. Beginning June 1, tickets will be available to the general public to purchase.
Online purchases are limited to eight tickets per person/transaction. All request for group ticket sames must send an email to jamboree.visitor@scouting.org.
