As a nonprofit organization, fundraising is very important. These funds provide for professional staff supervision, organization of new Scouting units, service for existing units, training of volunteer leaders, and maintenance of council camps. They also finance the operation of the local council service center, where volunteer leaders can obtain literature, insignia, advancement badges, and other items vital to the program. In addition, the service center maintains advancement and membership records.
The annual Friends of Scouting campaign is an opportunity for communities, businesses and families to support the Scouting Movement in Central Indiana. The annual Trails End Popcorn Sale is a well-known fundraiser for Scouts of all ages, where prizes and up to 35% of the sales of the popcorn go directly to the Unit.
