BSA Mission Statement

The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.


Crossroads of America Council Vision Statement

Crossroads of America Council, Boy Scouts of America aims to beneficially involve every eligible child and their family in the fun and adventure of our programs.

We will provide extraordinary youth development programs that: strengthen values, develop leadership skills, provide lifelong learning and instill the habit of service to others. Crossroads of America Council will be widely acknowledged as a community and national leader in serving youth, families and neighborhoods.

This result will be achieved through the partnership of: (1) children and families, (2) strong community organizations, (3) committed, trained volunteers, and (4) districts, board and staff able to align community resources in support of Scouting and Learning for Life.


Strategic Goal

Crossroads of America Council will continue as a growth council by focusing on four key goals:

1. Improving density and retention
2. Providing adequate funding
3. Communications
4. Leadership selection and development

The strategic plan was designed to achieve these goals through six outcomes: Volunteers, Staff, Retention, Density, Funding and Dashboard.

Crossroads of America Council Diversity Policy

The mission of Crossroads of America Council, Boy Scouts of America, is to provide character development, citizenship training, growth in physical and mental fitness as well as leadership opportunities for youth within its central Indiana geographic service area. The council prides itself on the diversity of its youth members and adult volunteer leadership and is committed to providing an educational, stimulating and safe environment for everyone involved.

Scouting – At no time does Scouting seek to learn private and/or personal information about a member or leader nor does it discriminate in an unlawful manner with regard to employment, volunteer participation or the provision of services on the basis of race, color, creed, religion, national origin, gender, age, ancestry, disability or handicapped status, veteran status, marital status or political affiliation.

In-School Scouting/Learning for Life – Membership requirements for these programs are not guided by the Boy Scouts of America but are determined by our partnering schools and other educational institutions.

Leadership

Crossroads of America Council is led by an executive board comprised of the Council President, Council Commissioner, approximately 20 Vice Presidents, no more than 60 Directors and 15 District Chairs.  2013 Board and Advisory Board Roster

Crossroads of America Council employs 65 full and part-time permanent employees.

Administrative Functions

There are a large number of administrative tasks performed by the staff of Crossroads of America Council.
