Heritage Society Program

The Scouting Heritage Society has been established by the Crossroads of America Council, Boy Scouts of America to recognize those who want to preserve the tradition and values of Scouting, for generations to come. The Heritage Society is a program to recognize those who include Scouting in their estate planning or make outright gifts to the Endowment Fund of the Crossroads of America Boy Scout Council. Gifts to the Endowment Fund are invested in perpetuity by the council. The annual interest income is used to support the purposes for which the gift was given. Gifts may be specified for general use or restricted for special purposes.

2013 Heritage Society Dinner

The Heritage Society Dinner of Crossroads of America Council is designed to recognize Endowment Fund friends and supporters. The Endowment Fund provides critical financial support in areas of camp maintenance, youth who need financial assistance for uniforms, registration fees or summer camp, office and camp capital needs and areas determined by the donor. All Heritage Society members are invited to the annual Heritage Society Dinner.  This year’s dinner was held at the Creation Café, Indianapolis with record attendance of 103 guests.

Current members were thanked, 56 new members were inducted and prospective members were encouraged to join the Heritage Society. Guests were treated to gondola rides on the canal, great food, inspirational testimonials and an evening of fun and camaraderie. For more information on the Heritage Society please contact Victor George at 317-813-7062.

James E. West Fellowship Award

The James E. West Fellowship Award is a national recognition for individuals who contribute $1,000 or more in cash or securities to their local council endowment fund. This contribution is in addition to and does not diminish or replace the donor's annual gift to the council's Friends of Scouting campaign. Organizations or individuals may also contribute an award in honor of someone. The award is presented with a certificate, a lapel pin, and a square knot to wear on the uniform. James E. West fellows names are added to the wall in the Golden-Burke Training Center.
