Golden-Burke Scout Center Trainings

SPRING BREAK MERIT BADGE CAMP


March 30 - April 2

There will be over 20 merit badge's offered during this camp which will be held at the Golden Burke Scout Center.  Registration starts at 8:30 am each day and pick up is at 5:00 pm each day.

The Chaplain's Aide – Saturday, February 14th 2015 REGISTER

Basic training for Boy Scouts serving as a Unit Scout Chaplain's Aide.  Scout Unit

Merit Badge Counselor Training           –  Thursday, February 18 from 7 pm – 8 pm REGISTER
Instructor – Denise Purdie-Andrew
Cost: $5
This course covers the purpose of the merit badge program, the role of the merit badge counselor, and methods of counseling. Attending this course will allow you to become certified as a Merit Badge Counselor.

All Inclusive Cub Scout Leader Training - Tuesday March 3 - 6 pm - 9 pm REGISTER

This is a required training for all Cub Scout leaders including Den Leaders and Assistant Den Leaders (all levels), Cubmaster, Assistant Cubmaster, Pack Trainer, Committee Chair, and any Committee Member.  Any Cub Scout parent would also benefit by taking this training.  This course covers the specialized knowledge a leader needs to assume a leadership role within their Cub Scout pack.

Cub Scout leaders and parents who are interested in learning the who, what, when, where, why, and how of conducting Cub Scout ceremonies.  The course will include an opening ceremony, closing ceremony, and many examples of ceremonial props.

Project Wild Exploring Wildlife  - Saturday, April 18 from 9 am - 4 pm  REGISTER

Project WILD provides a mixture of many activities that Scout leaders and educators can utilize to help link youth and wildlife through its mission to provide wildlife-based conservation and environmental education that fosters responsible actions toward wildlife and related natural resources.

Project Learning Tree- Saturday, April 25 from 9 am - 4 pm  REGISTER

Project Learning Tree provides a mixture of many activities that Scout leaders and educators can utilize to help youth gain an awareness and knowledge of the world around them and their place within it by using the forest as a "window to the world."

BALOO Training - Saturday, April 25 From 9 am - 4 pm  REGISTER

Cost - $15
This course covers everything you need to know to make your pack overnighter a fun, successful and BSA approved event.  This training is for Scoutmasters, Assistant Scoutmasters, and Cub Leaders within a unit that covers outdoor skills that you need to teach Scouts skills leading up to First Class.

Project WET Exploring Water - Saturday, May 2 from 9 am - 4 pm  REGISTER

Project WET provides a mixture of many activities that Scout leaders and educators can utilize to help youth explore our planet's most precious resource - WATER.  Through this course you will get the basics on the Project WET program.

Earn a University of Scouting Degree at the Golden-Burke Scout Center

Bachelor of General Studies Requirements

1.  Adult Youth Protection Training for your registered position.
2.  Basic Training in your registered position.
3.  Complete six (6) hours of training that are offered at the Golden-Burke Scout Center in at least two (2) different courses.

NOTE:  This is a standalone Bachelor’s degree that can only be earned at the Golden-Burke Scout Center beginning September 1, 2012.  When you complete the requirements, submit your record card to the Council to receive your degree.
