District Pinewood
Derby Racing Results (coming soon)
Thanks to all who contributed and helped with this
great event!
Race sponsor Hubler Auto Center has been our annual derby
sponsor
for the past 4 years and again came thru with providing the
trophies and
the venue, the rear service shop at their dealership along with
bleachers for seating from the local High School!
Racing was held March 13th at
the Hubler Auto Center,
located at 1700 N Main (SR3), Rushville,
IN.
Judging for car categories was provided by
Mayor Merv Bostic of Rushville. Thanks Mayor Bostic!
2nd Annual Merit
Badge University May 21-22
in Greenfield Indiana.
This is a stellar event with loads of activities
and Merit Badge opportunities:
"Offering a total of 50 (that's right, 50) different merit
badges this year,
and many of those badges are being offered in more than one
session,
with 63 different class sessions. In 13 of the class sessions,
Scouts will
actually be able to earn two merit badges within the session
since a number
of badges are being offered in pairs, such as
Fingerprinting/Crime Prevention,
Animal Science/Plant Science, Safety/Traffic Safety,
Salesmanship/Entrepreneurship,
Indian Lore/Textile, Music and/or Bugling, and
Tracking/Photography.
Photography is paired with Tracking since Tracking requires
Scouts to
photograph animals and tracks in order to meet requirements.
Also being offered are classes for three of the four
"historical" merit
badges that are being resurrected this year for one year only
due to the
Boy Scout Centennial. The ones being offered are Tracking (in
combination
with Photography) in two different sessions, Pathfinding (one
session),
and Carpentry (three sessions). These merit badges will be
unique not only
because they can only be earned this year, but also because it
is my
understanding is that they will have a "gold thread" border
around them.
The venue this year is St Michael's School in Greenfield, and
overnight
camping Friday night on the school grounds will be permitted."
