What is Exploring
Exploring is a unique work-site based career exploration program for male and female young adults 14 (if they have completed the 8th grade) -20 years of age.
Each year the Career Exploring Office, in cooperation with area middle and high schools, administers career interest surveys of students. Students select their top two career choices from the 197 career options listed. This information is then used to invite these students to join Exploring programs. There are currently more than 60 Exploring Post options in the Indianapolis Metropolitan Area; each is unique in the way it uses the resources of the host organization. Exploring can be the first step in identifying career possibilities while having fun in an exciting and informal environment.
Programs are flexible enough to fit in with other activities. Most meet once or twice a month for a portion of the school year. Exploring will confirm your interest in a career field, or help you decide that career is not for you and point you in another direction.
Students are not limited in the number of Exploring Posts they can participate in at any one time or consecutively.
Participation fees for most Exploring programs range from $15.00 to $20.00 for the total program.
