2008 TRAINING OPPORTUNITY FOR
VENTURING CREWS:
The Venturing Program at Crossroads of America
Council will be offering a Venturing Leadership Skills Course (VLSC)
in September. As we prepare and grow Venturing within CAC, the
Venturing team believes that this will provide our youth an
opportunity to develop their leadership skills and abilities.
When: Friday & Saturday, September 5th & 6th
Where: Camp Kikthawenund, Frankton, IN
Crew members and advisors who might be willing to
serve on the steering committee to assure that this is a great
training event should contact
Bill Allbee, Course Director (317-363-0307).
Training for volunteers helps ensure
successful programs. All leaders should be trained to meet Quality
Unit objectives as well as to help all adult leaders feel comfortable
in their particular role. Units and leaders can access general and
leader specific training in several ways.
1. Visit the Council's Training webpage
(above) for resources offered in other Districts as well
as for a complete description of training requirements and
opportunities. The BSA National and the Crossroads of America
websites offer several on-line training courses that can be taken in
the privacy of your home. Print the certificate at the end of
each course to give to your unit training coordinator and district
training chair.
2. Host training programs in your unit - work
through your Unit Trainer or contact the
District Training Chair.
3.
Meet training requirements through participation in Crossroads of
America Council's annual
University of Scouting at Warren Central High School in
January.
4. Be sure to check out the Council's
"Wall of Information" just to the right of the Scout Shop entrance for
Council and District training and learning
opportunities as well as other Council-wide events and information.
